Dr. Bryan Wong  (PhD, MBA, B.Eng)

Dr. Bryan Wong is the principal trainer of Excellon Consulting. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, graduated from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 1993.

He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with distinction in technology management and earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in organization behavior focusing on sales force effectiveness from the University of Science Malaysia (USM) in 2001 and 2016 respectively.

Prior to his sales career, Dr. Bryan Wong was an Engineer in a large US microprocessor company for 2 years. He left the company in 1995 and moved into sales and business development roles. Since then, Dr. Bryan Wong has been involved in technical selling, key account management and sales management for over 23 years, working for a few large multinationals in different segments of the technology industry. He has been in various sales and key account management positions from Sales Engineer, Key Account Manager and Regional Director of Sales. He covers regional Asia Pacific (including China), India, South East Asia and Australia business since 2001. Most recently, Dr. Bryan Wong manages 2 top key accounts and emerges as the top salesperson of Southeast Asia with overall sales growth achievement of above 20% (average growth of all other salespeople was 7% – 10%).

Dr. Bryan Wong helped 2 US companies to set up their business operations in Malaysia (in 1998 and in 2001) and managed a sales and customer service team of more than 10 people. He also managed regional distributors and channel partners in India, Singapore and Australia since 2009.

His career achievements include being awarded the Top Asia Pacific Sales Manager Award in 2000 and various annual sales achievement awards including holiday incentive trips to South America, Hawaii and Europe. Although the product segments were relatively different, Dr. Bryan Wong had achieved significant sales achievements working for his various employers.

While working for the few large multinationals, Dr. Bryan Wong had attended various personal selling and sales management trainings in the US, Europe, Singapore and China. He was also trained by Miller-Heiman International (MHI) in the US in Strategic Selling and Large Account Management Program (LAMP). Dr. Bryan Wong is a certified trainer of Malaysia Human Resource Development Board (PSMB) under the Ministry of Human Resource since 2014 (License Number TTT/10719) and a member of Asian Academy of Management (AAM) since 2015. He presented a sales force effectiveness research paper at the Asian Academy of Management Conference in October 2015. His research papers have been published in journals and conference proceedings.

With his extensive years of industry experience, Dr. Bryan Wong is passionate to share his knowledge with the younger generations of salespeople and to contribute his experience to the society. He has extensive contacts with technical engineering and business people in the industry. Dr. Bryan Wong has been a freelance trainer and consultant to multinationals and small-and-medium enterprises’ (SMEs) salesforce since 2012.  He loves reading sales and management books and articles, jogging, swimming and travelling.
